About this contract

Wigan Council are seeking a suitably qualified Provider to manage the Haulage and Treatment of Waste Paper and Card collected at the Kerbside by Wigan in-house collection team. The contract length is two years, with an option to extend by two further periods of two years each. It will involve the collection of approximately 11,000 tonnes of paper and card per annum from Wigan's Waste Transfer Station located in Makerfield Way, and the Provider will be required to move approximately 40-50 tonnes (2-3 articulated vehicles) per day. The waste will need to be delivered to the Provider's own facility, where it will need to be separated into separate paper products that can meet the necessary standard for sale to the recycling industry. There are requirements to administer the project, report monthly data, provide contingency options and deliver social value.
