About this contract

Introduction Animal Care is a key part of Grimsby Institutes curriculum designed to equip Learners with the skills to progress their careers in areas such as Veterinary Nursing, Kennel and Cattery, Animal Welfare and Dog Grooming. This hands on course offers Learners the chance to experience a wide variety of animals where they will learn how to care for them from animal health, nursing, kennel management, welfare and biology, feeding and accommodation. Historically this need has been offered from our adjacent Nunsthorpe site however the offer has become dated in the context of our competitors. Following a detailed appraisal of various options the Institute has decided to relocate these facilities into a 'state of the art' new build located on our main site in Grimsby. Outline Brief Accommodation schedule and initial layout, which informed the options appraisal, illustrated by the appended Drawing No. 01/271/03 - Proposed Animal Care Centre - Feasibility Plan. This is based upon locating the facility to the west of the Nuns corner campus as detailed by Drawing No. 01/271/04, also appended Whilst this exercise offered the scheme the required strategic direction the expectation is that the Design Team will explore and refine its conclusions informed by further consultation with the end users , Planners , neighbours etc in order to derive the optimum solution. Project Costs We anticipate the cost of the project to be in the order of £1.35m exclusive of VAT and fees, although this is subject to interrogation through the initial stages of the commission as the Design Team seek to align their thoughts to the aspiration of the Institute.
