About this contract
The Attorney General sought to appoint new members to one of his panels of junior Counsel in London in October 2016, the C Panel, to undertake civil and EU work for government departments. Membership of the London panel was open to both barristers and solicitors with the appropriate qualifications. Members of the C panel will be expected to have at least two years experience in actual practice (from end of 2nd six months' pupillage for barristers, date of commencement of advocacy for solicitors). Appointments will be for five years. There are vacancies on the Panel in all areas of public and private law. The Attorney General is particularly looking to deepen capacity in counsel capable of advising departments on the interface of public and commercial law issues. Many potential applicants in this area will have less opportunity for advocacy but that is not a bar to applying.
