About this contract
The Authority is looking to secure the services of suitably skilled, qualified and experienced Consultant to act as Authorising Engineer for Medical Devices, also undertaking maintenance, calibration and repairs to the Trust's approximately 1200 medical devices, throughout some 50 sites across Surrey, North Hampshire, South East London and parts of Kent. An Authorising Engineer (AE) is an independent engineer or other appropriately experienced and qualified individual appointed to take responsibility for the effective management of the safety guidance recommended by the Department of Health. The Authorising Engineer will act as an independent professional adviser to the healthcare organisation. The Authorising Engineer should be appointed by the organisation with a brief to provide services in accordance with the relevant Health Technical Memorandum (HTM). The professional status and role required may vary in accordance with the specialist service being supported. Following the conclusion of the competitive tendering exercise the Authority will then enter into contract with the successful consultant. Contracts will be for an initial 3 year period with the option to extend the term for a further 2 x 2 year periods up to an overall maximum term of 7 years from the commencement date.
