About this contract
Defra are pleased to offer the opportunity to be the sole supplier of official seed certification seals to the seed industry for a period of 5 years with an option for 3 further years by extension. This opportunity will be let by means of a concession contract. To express your interest in bidding for this contract, please register your company information at https://defra.bravosolution.co.uk/web/login.html Seed Certification is a requirement of EC Directives, which are implemented in the UK by national legislation. It is a consumer protection measure designed to assure the quality of seed of agricultural and horticultural species covered by the seed marketing regulations which is marketed to seed companies, growers and farmers. APHA is responsible for seed certification in England and will also act on behalf of the Welsh Assembly Government in certifying seed crops and seed marketed in Wales. The Scottish Government (SG) is responsible in Scotland and Department of Agricultural and Rural Development (DARD) in Northern Ireland. This requirement seeks to appoint a single supplier capable of sourcing and distributing certified seed bag seals to seed industry producers and distributors wanting to sell their product in England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
