About this contract
The Authority (Teignbridge District Council) is seeking to award a Service Concession Contract for the design, plan, implementation, operation and support of a wireless network, consisting of free public Wi-Fi, Smart City/Internet of Things (IoT) services, small cell deployments and an online tourist information application for the town centre areas of Newton Abbot, Teignmouth and Dawlish. The Concessionaire will be authorised to use either Teignbridge District Council or Devon County Council owned assets, including street furniture, street lighting, CCTV columns and property. It is envisaged that the core coverage will be in high footfall areas within the town centre areas, including major tourist destinations and the main retail areas, however the service is not prescriptive to these areas and the Authority would welcome proposals to extend coverage into other areas of the towns. The Authority is seeking engagement with the market to create a wireless network that helps deliver against the Teignbridge District Council 'Going to Town' and 'Investing in Prosperity' super-projects outlined in the 2016-2025 Ten Year Strategy. This project also features within the Economic Development Plan 2018-23.
