About this contract
Preston City Council (PCC) and South Ribble Borough Council (SRBC) are inviting tenders for the provision of interim and emergency accommodation for homeless households; this may include single males and females, couples or families. The Housing Act 1996 part 7 and the Homelessness Act 2002 set out the legal responsibilities of Local Authorities (LA) in respect of homeless households. A key duty is the requirement to provide temporary accommodation to homeless households. Emergency interim accommodation is needed to be used by the LA whilst they carry out enquiries to establish what duty is owed to the household. Homeless households can present to the LA 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. The LA has a duty to provide access to service, including emergency accommodation, out of normal office hours. Referrals into the accommodation will be via each respective LA or the Out of Hours Team. The duration of the contract will be initially a 12 month contract from 1st July 2019 with the option to renew for a further 12 months depending upon satisfactory outcomes, sustained demand and available funding
