About this contract
Haringey Council is inviting Quotations from suitably qualified and experienced organisations for the provision of Breast Feeding Peer Support Service. The service will deliver extensive outreach across the borough; to increase awareness of the benefits of breast-feeding, in addition to supporting antenatal and post-natal clients to breast-feed their babies. The breast-feeding peer support service will recruit and train mothers who have breastfed from the local community to become breastfeeding peer supporters. Peer supporters need to reflect the diversity and languages of the borough. The service will liaise with the midwifery service, health-visiting service, children's centres and existing breastfeeding volunteers from other organisations to promote and support delivery of breastfeeding. The service will train the peer supporters to provide support and information to enable mothers to achieve effective positioning and attachment and hand expression of breast milk. The service will need to provide, at a minimum, monthly supervision of paid and unpaid peer supporters. The current budget for this service is within the range of £60,000 to £66,000 per annum. The contract will be for a period of four years from April 2020, with option to extend for a further period of up to two years. .
