About this contract

The National Composites Centre (NCC) is planning on placing an order in 2018 for the supply, delivery, installation, commissioning, buy off and training, of a new multi-axial forming station for the Automated Preforming Cell. The equipment will provide a capability for forming dry fibre preforms. The automated preform cell (APC) utilises automation to reduce variability and manufacture cycle time in the process of preform production. The cell is situated in the National Composites Centre (NCC) a catapult centre for high volume manufacturing in the UK. The cell will be utilised for demonstrating, characterising and developing preforming processes for a range of industrial customers in the Aerospace, Automotive, Wind industry and other sectors. With a wide range of potential applications, the equipment procured will be designed to be adaptable to be reconfigured to the customer demands present and future.
