About this contract

Children in care can suffer great adversity and disadvantages when it comes to their education due to their adverse childhood experiences. The Virtual School has a duty to improve the educational outcomes of children in care, and an important part of this is to improve their literacy skills. The service aims is to provide the Virtual School with 6 monthly packages of books, maths games and stationery that will be passed on to Bristol’s Children in Care, ranging from ages 3 - 12. Supporting the children’s reading, comprehension, and maths abilities, as well as ensuring that the children feel that they are cared for and recognised. Supporting children in having increased confidence in literacy and numeracy. The service will support children who have experienced difficulty and adversity by providing books which will support with relaxation. This service will support children in developing relationships with their carers.
