About this contract
Corserv Limited on behalf of Cornwall Airport Limited are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced supplier to undertake Multi Disciplinary Design Services for the expansion of the existing airport terminal from RIBA stages 1 through to 4 as per the Design brief. Cornwall Airport Newquay is a small, peripheral regional airport providing vital connectivity for the businesses and residents of Cornwall. We are forecasting circa 450,000 passengers per annum this financial year, which represents a 66 % increase on the 270,000 we processed last year as we recovered from COVID 19. Aligned with the Next Generation Security Programme, Newquay is required to upgrade the passenger screening capability to include C3 liquids screening by 01 June 2024. For Newquay, this requires a significant reconfiguration of the already constrained terminal to facilitate both the technology and associated procedures. We have engaged with Rapiscan and selected their CTX920 solution. Rapiscan have also proposed a modular box that can be developed off-site and then added to the side of the terminal. For reasons of deliverability and cost, this is our current favoured option. It will still require significant reconfiguration of the departure's infrastructure, all of which will need to take place outside our seasonal summer peak We have recently updated our traffic forecast and terminal capacity assessment to inform the development of an updated masterplan. We now have a short term 0-5 year plan that requires several small extensions to the terminal facilities, so the mandatory security changes will form the first phase of this journey. We require a delivery partner to develop and deliver the changes within a small and constrained operating environment, whilst the operational team continue to deliver excellent customer service in support of our traffic growth.
