About this contract

Tenders are invited for the provision of an integrated Healthy Child Programme 0-19 years, and up to 25 years for those with a Special Educational Need or Disability. The programme will be universally offered to the 36,000 children and young people residing in Middlesbrough, in addition to pregnant women and families. The service will provide a range of universal and targeted services, aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of children and young people, including: universal health assessments, the National Child Weight Measurement Programme, vision and hearing screening, safeguarding, Family Nurse Partnership and a wide range of preventative, early help interventions and specialist support services, that proactively address poor health outcomes and inequalities that are most relevant to the population of Middlesbrough. The service will be led by Specialist Community Public Health Nurses, including Health Visitors, and will include a skill mix of staff that are best placed to support the health and wellbeing needs of children, young people and their families. The service will support a culture of evidence based practice, acting as the local leader and coordinator of public health services for children and young people. The service will promote a whole-systems approach to prevention and early identification - contributing to an integrated, multi-agency model of delivery that addresses health needs at the individual, family and community level. As described in the specification, the service will shape provision against local needs and aspirations - working with Middlesbrough Council and key strategic partners in the delivery of an intelligence-led service, that is responsive to the local and national policy context, emerging evidence-base and evolving health care economy.
