About this contract
Southend-on-Sea City Council (the Council) are looking to extend the public electric vehicle (EV) charging offer within the city. In 2023 a Cabinet report made several recommendations with the aim of 'Preparing Southend for the EV revolution', following on from this a bid for the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) grant application was made. The Council are looking to appoint a Contractor to install new electric vehicle charging points within the city, predominantly for residents without off street parking to. The specification sets out the requirements for procurement regarding the purchase, installation, ownership, operation, replacement (if required), management, and maintenance of the chargepoints and underground apparatus. To fund this project the Council have been approved from the Energy Saving Trust (EST) for the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) Funding and upon successful procurement of a Contractor will secure £1.448M. The remaining balance of project costs will be funded by the Contractor as part of this contract. Market engagement exercises have been conducted and total installation costs have been estimated at £4.800M.
