About this contract
Barnsley MBC is looking to procure a Computer Access and Management System to replace the current outdated system that no longer provides the full functionality required to deliver this service. The system will migrate across to the new equipment being procured for the new library and currently programmed to roll out to the branches, so needs to be compatible with the latest computer technology. The project is to provide safe online access to the community in Barnsley Libraries. This is essential to meet BMBC aims and outcomes and ensures that those members of the community that do not have readily available access to these facilities, at home, are afforded an option. To bring this project into service requires a software solution that manages the devices. Computer access is at the forefront of the Digital by Default strategy This is not a new requirement; a version of this type of product is already in use. However, it falls short in a number of areas and is now not compatible with many of the new software solutions being procured as part of the project. The current contract is being managed on short-term basis to facilitate continued access to this vital service, however, support is limited and this solution is not sustainable.
