About this contract
The Council requires the Activity Plan Coordinator to: Formed in the 1928, Craven Museum & Gallery has an excellent quality of collections, fascinating stories to share and sits in the perfect location to engage local communities and visitors to our region. Since 1973, the museum has formed part of Skipton's distinctive 19th century town hall, nestled on the town's high street in the south of the Yorkshire Dales. The structure of the museum and its displays have remained fundamentally the same since that time, in a large two-floored extension behind the Town Hall. Those displays are now tired and, despite very positive attempted interventions in recent years, they are in need of a major refurbishment in line with a new vision for the museum and its future role, and impact on our communities. The vision for this major refurbishment, which is to take place as part of a programme of works to the Town Hall, has developed over many years and intensely in the last year. A Stage 1 bid was submitted to the Heritage Lottery Fund in May 2015, including plans up to and including RIBA Stage 3. We aim to submit a Stage 2 HLF bid in July 2017. A crucial part of this project is to involve our communities throughout, to enable them to play an active part transforming their heritage, to celebrate it, and to ensure the museum will have a positive impact on those communities going long into the future - the creation of an Activity Plan, based on extensive consultation, is a vital part of this.
