The Initial Aviation Optometry (IAO) services requirement will be covered by the following scope: Scope of Requirement: The Contractor shall be accountable to the Authority (R&S Department of Occupational Medicine (DOM)) for the provision of IAO services, with all IAO examinations of candidates conducted in accordance with the GOC Code of Conduct. All in-scope IAO services are to be discharged at Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) approved aeromedical centres only. The number of IAO examinations that are likely to be required over any 12 month period is estimated to be c. 1,000. This figure may fluctuate in accordance with annual recruitment requirements across the armed forces. The delivery site for all in-scope services will be the Contractors premises. The Contractor is to ensure that all optometrists within his employ are trained to specific Authority requirements in order to conduct IAO examinations, and meet clinical governance requirements. Records of training and optometrist audit are to be made available to the Authority on request, and all optometrists are to be listed on the Register of the General Optical Council (GOC). The Contractor is to ensure that all optometrists are in date with GOC Continuing Professional Development requirements. The Contractor is to provide a booking service for all optometry examinations. The Contractor is to provide findings of all optometry examinations carried out under the terms of the contract directly to the Authority.
