About this contract

High Speed Two (HS2) Limited ('HS2 Ltd') is the body responsible for developing and promoting the new high speed railway system known as High Speed Two (HS2, HS2 Project). HS2 will initially run between London and Birmingham (Phase One) but will subsequently be extended to link Birmingham to Crewe (Phase 2a) and Crewe to Manchester and the West Midlands to Leeds (Phase 2b). (Phase 2a and 2b are subject to HS2 Ltd achieving Royal Assent). The Railway Systems tranche of work incorporates a number of critical disciplines for the HS2 Project, including without limitation the design, construction, commissioning and testing of a depot, a network integrated control centre, track, overhead catenary, lineside M&E & tunnels, power, signalling, security and telecommunications. The Operational Telecommunications and Security Systems scope comprises: data transmission network (DTN), operational telephony system (OTS), tunnel radio system (TRS), telecommunication masts, GSM-R radio network, including base transmission stations (BTS), antenna, etc. relocatable equipment buildings (REBs), route wide security systems and passive provision for Airwave. This includes without limitation the design, manufacture, supply, installation, safety authorisation, testing, commissioning and maintenance (until take-over by the Employer) of the operational telecommunication systems and the route wide security systems on Phase One and 2a. A separate contract will also be awarded for the provision of technical support services. Please note however that HS2 Ltd reserves the right in its absolute discretion to amend/omit any work related to Phase 2a and further details of this right will appear in the Invitation to Tender (ITT) documentation issued to shortlisted Applicants in due course.
