About this contract
NOTE: This notice was updated on 09 May 2018 for the following reason: The tender deadline has been extended to the 25th May 2018.Braking systems on modern rolling stock often uses a combination of regenerative, rheostatic or retarder braking, in addition to friction braking. Support for operators to help ensure braking systems continue to function while running in snow conditions is needed and the current approach typically used does not reflect the developments in braking technology. This project will carry out a literature review of current braking systems in snow conditions to make recommendations for a pilot which will be carried out during the 2018/19 winter period and then assess the data from the pilot to make recommendations for updates to existing guidance. Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
