About this contract

Service Requirement The London Borough of Barnet has released this invitation to quote (ITQ) for the delivery of a sustainability support programme for local, independent businesses in Burnt Oak. Barnet Council recognises the benefits that improved sustainability can have for both the planet and the financial health of businesses. The successful vendor will deliver a programme that supports Our Plan for Barnet 2023 to 2026 and its corporate priorities (in particular, becoming a net zero borough by 2042). Furthermore, it will additionally contribute to Barnet's 'borough of thriving town centres' theme from the Barnet Growth Strategy 2020 to 2030. This programme will last for 12 months, including all reporting and grant awards. It will begin with promotion and recruitment and an audit of each business's carbon footprint and operations - with a focus on air quality (indoors and outdoors). Following the audit, a personalised sustainability plan will be provided to the business. Each business's progress will be monitored, with advice and support provided as and when required. A grant pot of approximately £20,000 (total) will also be available to the participant businesses via a competitive bidding process to support their delivery of the changes identified in their personalised sustainability plan. Not all businesses will receive a grant or the total they have asked for, therefore it is important that the personalised sustainability plan identifies no- or low-cost changes that the business can implement and still have a positive impact. Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
