About this contract

The proposed works principally involves the de-commissioning and removal of existing Optic Lamp Array along with the automatic electrical operating / monitoring system within the NLB Tower for replacement with a new upgraded modern version including 2 No Zeni-Lite High Power LED Optics. The NLB owned Tower and Welfare Block / Stores are to be totally refurbished and re-painted. Both buildings are located across a courtyard within the grounds of land and other buildings (ex. keepers houses), that are now privately owned. Demolish a dilapidated old NLB Wash house (ex. Paint Store) building that is located on an isolated path about 100m from the main lighthouse buildings. See Item No 5 of project work for details of possible on site storage of project materials with the NLB Estate. As part of the project works the Principal Contractor is required to organise an early ‘Initial’ pre-site start Asbestos Survey / Report within the NLB estate via and UKAS accredited asbestos company to identify and hopefully remove any asbestos containing materials before Contractor’s personnel arrive on site. A further ‘Demolition’ survey / report by the same UKAS accredited company is to be done during the de-commissioning of electrical cubicles, etc to identify any further ACM’s for removal. Site visits will be conducted on 28 September 2016. Please contact Ruth Millan, Procurement@nlb.org.uk to confirm attendance and names of representatives attending site. The Lighthouse is located on the Isle of Man. Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
