About this contract

The requirement is for 7 x security cages to hold small arms training aids when not in use and weapons during the working day when not stored in the Armoury and not in use for training in order to prevent loss or theft. These cages form part of a layered approach to the security of these items on a secured site in a building fitted with a monitored intruder detection system. They need to be approved by DIO SSG. The cages must be capable of being fixed to the floor/training space walls, prevent unauthorised personnel from entering and provide a degree of protection for the contents which affords the site quick reaction force time to react to an alarm (during silent hours) (minimum of 30 minutes). Hinge bolts and locks which meet CPNI Class 3 are required by SSG. The cages should be robust and therefore of steel construction with expanded metal infill, free standing, roofed and finished to prevent corrosion. They will be fitted and used inside a heating building which is weather proof. The finish should be Black Powder. The cage should be a minimum of 2m long (2.4m preferred), 2 m (2.4m preferred) wide and +2m high in order to allow walk in access and the fitting of lockers and shelves inside the cage for the tidy storage of training aids. The mesh in cages should be robust and no larger than 50mm x 50mm between bars in order to prevent the removal of larger items. Small items will be kept in a locker. Hinge bolts are to be fitted. Locks are to be Sentinel 6 or equivalent (as approved by DIO SSG). Lock cylinders are to be compatible with the lock (17mm Europrofile cylinder). Cages to be delivered to MOD Lyneham, building 84 and fixed in situ in 7 training spaces by the supplier. Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement, and the contract will be awarded on the basis of the most economically advantageous tender.
