About this contract
Final effluent continuous monitoring technology. This project will be completed via an evidence gathering desk top exercise focused on, but not limited to, a review of relevant literature, academic papers, technical documents, discussions with those undertaking final effluent continuous monitoring, research and development, video/webinar presentations and other sources of information associated with final effluent continuous monitoring technology. Where possible this exercise should focus on gathering information and data from Water Companies in England. The information gathered will be presented and summarised in a written technical report which focuses on the areas of interest as set out above. This research project will be completed over a 3 month period. Additional information: Question: Are ammonia and phosphorus to be regarded as derived parameters, calculated from ammonium and phosphate with ion selective electrodes? Answer: This is part of the research exercise to see what technology is out there presently and how they fare. For example are derived parameters more robust to use? Are there derived and non derived monitors for the same parameter? What are the advantages/disadvantages of using them? Question: Are established techniques, such as dissolved oxygen probes, to be treated as derived parameters? Answer: See above. This is part of the research exercise to see what technology is out there presently and how they fare. Question: There is already an MCERTS for continuous monitors. The bid asks that the feasibility of applying MCERTS be considered. Is this still required if there is already an MCERTS procedure? Answer: Is the MCERTS suitable for final effluent continuous monitors? Would anything need to be done for MCERTS to be used on all monitors for final effluent? Does anything else need to happen?
