About this contract
Meeching Valley is a residential area within Newhaven, East Sussex, located within the South Downs National Park. The residential estate is located in a local valley with land falling steeply towards it. Overtime, the development of the valley has increased the amount of impermeable area and therefore the amount of surface water runoff. There have been numerous flooding events within the Meeching Valley area with one of the most significant recent surface water flooding event occurring in February 2009 which resulted in sewers surcharging and flooding the local school and residential properties internally. Extensive property curtilage and highway flooding was also experienced causing significant localised disruption during this event and others. The overall aim of the project is to design a flood alleviation scheme (FAS) to address the flood risk. Given the timescales of the project we are intending to commission a single consultant to progress the scheme from initial design through to detailed design. At this stage, it is anticipated that the scheme would involve upstream attenuation in either an attenuation basin or bunded area Additional information: This tender is to be completed electronically using the SE Shared Services Procurement eSourcing portal. https://www.sesharedservices.org.uk/esourcing/opportunities The SE Shared Services eSourcing portal provides a web-based tool that provides a simple, secure and efficient means for managing tendering and quotation activities reducing the time and effort required for both buyers and Potential Bidders.
