About this contract
Copeland Borough Council is currently producing a new Copeland Local Plan 2017-2035 and is updating its evidence base to support and inform the new Local Plan. An important part of the evidence base is understanding and planning for green spaces. The Council is therefore seeking to appoint suitably qualified and experienced consultants to undertake an assessment of the landscape character around the edges of settlements. This will inform and identify areas where development can take place, together with key characteristics to consider/protect, mitigation, landscape development frameworks and areas that are not appropriate for development and could be added to the protected green space designations. This piece of work is being commissioned alongside an Open Space Assessment and review of current Protected Green Spaces in the Local Plan that will ensure that sufficient good quality open spaces and amenity green spaces are available within the borough's settlements. As such the two pieces of work will need to be produced closely to ensure consistency, and may provide opportunities for economies of scale and other benefits. The Tender documents will become available upon expressing an interest in the opportunity via the Chest Portal.
