About this contract

1 Overview of the contract 1.1.1 The Employer is seeking to select, by a competitive tendering process, a single specialist to deliver a play area in the High View area of Bideford West. This will be subject to gaining planning permission. 1.1.2 The chosen contractor will be awarded a contract of 5 Months commencing December 2015. 1.1.3 Where the contract duration exceeds one year, progression from year to year will be subject to a formal annual performance and will be entirely at The Employers discretion. 1.1.4 The Service in the main will consist of: Context: Westward is working in partnership with a mixed tenure group of residents and local councillors to make significant improvements to local recreational open spaces in the Bideford West area. Following meaningful and constructive consultation with the local community, with a focus on the needs of young people, the priority has been identified as the replacement of an obsolete play area in High View.(Please see attached plans and photographs.) The aim is to create a space for local families and young people to play, relax and enjoy being outdoors. This project is being jointly organised with Bideford West Open Spaces, a formally constituted group of local people who have the full support of local councillors and police. This group will be fully involved in the tender process, including making the final selection of the contractor. The committee and Westward would like the provision of a play area with the following guidance. • A play area designed to cater for children of 3 years and over • The design and equipment would facilitate the following activities • Bouncing • Jumping • Climbing • Hopping • Skipping • Swinging • Sliding • The design would include part of the play area having ‘Play’ sand. • The design would be sympathetic to the local environment and demonstrate the use of sustainable materials, with a focus on the use of recycled materials. • The design would include suggestions for landscaping for example banking, trees and planting with a focus on easy maintenance. • The design should incorporate suggestions for seating and eating areas • The design should include general waste bins and dog faeces bins Additional information: Please register your interest, recover all related documentation and submit your tender via the ASW Due North Portal (www.advantageswtenders.co.uk website)this to enable a full assessment of your proposal.
