About this contract
The Tony Davies High Voltage Laboratory, part of the University of Southampton, is currently engaged in an Innovation project, ConCEPT, with National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET). A critical part of the project is the ability to record temperatures and other related data from 275kV and 400kV Supergrid Transformers (SGTs). The SGTs in question are already in operation, meaning that monitoring equipment must be retrofitted. Owing to difficulties in securing outages, the monitoring equipment will ideally be fitted while the SGTs are in service. The objective of this Requirement is to procure a supplier capable of installing semi-permanent monitoring equipment which will be free issued by the University, on 5 operational SGTs at 4 NGET 400/275 substations. Responses should include an Option for fitting further equipment on an additional 2 SGTs at one additional NGET substation.
