About this contract

Umbrella, the largest and most integrated sexual health service in the world, is the provider of sexual health services in Birmingham and Solihull. Umbrella is a partnership, led by University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB), consisting of a number of community-based organisations, charities and health service providers, with the aim of improving the sexual health and well being of the people of Birmingham and Solihull. Through establishing an extensive network of primary care facilities in Birmingham only, Umbrella will radically transform where care is accessed to ensure sexual health services are widely available. With this aim UHB is seeking to appoint over 300 pharmacies to offer the ability to: - Dispense medications for the treatment of STIs - Provide oral contraception and condom distribution plus EHC - Provide screening and testing services - Offer Hepatitis B vaccinations (follow-up doses) - Provide emergency hormonal contraception UHB is establishing a dynamic purchasing system (DPS) to commission Sexual Health Services from Community Pharmacies (Pharmacy Partners) in Birmingham. The DPS will consist of the following Lots and Potential Providers may apply for admission to one or both lots. Lot 1 - Sexual Health - Tier 1; Lot 2 - Sexual Health - Tier 2. Organisations that submit an application which meets the minimum selection criteria shall be admitted on to the Dynamic Purchasing System and shall be invited to submit tenders for specific services when these requirements are identified. It is the intention for the DPS to be open for up to 5 years. This period may be later extended to a maximum of 10 years (on a yearly basis, or by a further five years or any duration between 1-5 years as UHB requires), or conversely shortened or terminated if UHB's circumstances change. Interested parties are also asked to note that UHB reserves the right to exercise a 'break' option on 31 August 2018. The estimated value of the DPS is £1.2 million for the first 5 years. The value range above is provided for guidance only, based on total estimated spend across both Lots, and on the potential period of the DPS being a minimum of 5 years and a maximum of 10 years.
