About this contract
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is developing options to optimise a number of training capabilities for land equipment to achieve greater flexibility and better value for money outcomes. This PIN is an enabler to allow the authority to develop options for the delivery of CTS. It is anticipated that the MoD will hold an industry day in mid 2016 at which point more detail will be provided in respect of the CTS programme, including the acquisition strategy and associated timelines. More information on the industry day will follow in due course to include date, venue and format. This programme will seek to develop options and innovative approaches for the sustainment of various training capabilities including the Command and Staff Trainer (CAST), the Combined Arms Tactical Trainer (CATT) and the Tactical and Engagement Simulation (TES). CAST currently trains commanders and their staff in operational command and control procedures using computer simulation to emulate both voice and data communication. CATT offers users training in battlegroup vehicles and equipment where current in house simulators accurately depict realistic scenarios through moving images, troop movement and battlefield effects. TES incorporates a number of programmes that enable live battlefield exercises to be carried out with simulated effects that replicate friction, threats and fires etc. The MoD is undertaking activity with various internal working groups mobilised to scope the requirement and develop the acquisition strategy. In Issuing this PIN and engaging with the market, DE&S is not committing to carrying out any procurement in relation to the requirements stated in this PIN. If third parties are interested in engaging with the MoD in relation to the requirements stated in this PIN they must do so without sharing information that is protected by copyright or patents. In the meantime the TSSP team will consider the merit of early industry engagement to inform the programme and if appropriate will formally notify industry by way of a further Prior Information Notice or a Request for Information.
