About this contract
NHS Blackburn with Darwen CCG would like to tender for a Community based non-obstetric ultrasound service. The aim of the service is to provide a high quality person-centred non-obstetric ultrasound service for GP registered patients within Blackburn with Darwen at a locality level. To ensure a more seamless provision, to reduce duplication of scanning, consistency of IT and image sharing systems and to integrate a single service offer which is accessible to GP Practices in each locality. The Commissioner envisages a Prime Provider model but if bidders want to subcontract. This is acceptable provided the IM&T systems are able to communicate/share all patient information. Additional information: The overarching aims of the service are: • To ensure Patients receive the right test at the right time and in the most clinically appropriate local setting; • To ensure diagnostic testing is integrated across pathways of care, and there is a seamless process by which images follows the Patient and that there is no unnecessary duplication of investigation or delays in on-going management of the patient; • To ensure diagnostic tests are appropriate, necessary, clinically correct, of high quality, with timely access and reporting; and • To develop local service provision as part of a diagnostic commissioning plan which aims to improve access and choice for Patients. • To maintain independence for Patients • Provide a good experience of care for Patients and their carers which will enhance individual outcomes • Meet the challenges of the rising need for health services within dwindling resources
