About this contract
The British Council is seeking UK-based suppliers to support the implementation of the FCDO-funded Accelerating English Language Learning in Central Asia (AELLCA) programme. This initiative aims to enhance English language teaching and learning across Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan through several key activities over a 5.5-month period from October 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025. In Uzbekistan, the supplier will focus on embedding continuous professional development (CPD) into the pre-service teacher training curricula. This involves training national curriculum writers to incorporate reflective practices and developing CPD training materials, which will be piloted in 20 institutions. Additionally, the supplier will introduce school-based CPD approaches in 100 schools, involving revising existing training materials, training CPD champions and consultants, and providing ongoing support and mentoring. A study tour to the UK will also be organized for 24 participants to enhance their understanding of CPD practices. In Kazakhstan, the supplier will work to build the capacity of English Language Teacher (ELT) course designers. This includes designing and delivering a training programme for 20 course designers, supervising the creation of new ELT courses, and developing an ELT course design handbook. Furthermore, the supllier will support the Ministry of Preschool and School Education in Uzbekistan in implementing a national CPD induction programme as per a Presidential Decree. This includes developing the programme's concept and content, training national trainers, and providing implementation recommendations. Lastly, a scoping study will be conducted to map CPD practices and assess needs in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, culminating in recommendations for future interventions.
