About this contract
This procurement exercise is for the delivery of a Civil Engineering Works project; A59 Corridor Improvements on behalf of Sefton Council. The proposed scheme will comprise of a range of junction, cycleway, footway and highway improvement works along the A59 Northway in Maghull between the Dodds Lane junction and the West Lancashire borough boundary, approx. 1.5km to the north. The scheme will involve four main elements; modification to the Kenyons Lane junction with the introduction of a new CYCLOPS signal arrangement. Highway and footway works on Kenyons Lane. The creation of segregated cycle routes along both sides of the A59 and the continuation of the cycle routes around the junction with Robins Island including controlled push button facilitates for pedestrians and cyclists across the A59. The works will include footway, cycleway and highway surfacing, kerbing, street lighting, traffic signals and highway drainage, with traffic management required to undertake the works. The A59 is a heavily used 'A road' linking Preston and Liverpool. The current speed limit of the A59 is 40-mph and 60-mph, with the higher speed limit north of Kenyons Lane through to the borough boundary. It is expected that the 60-mph limit will have been reduced to a permanent 40 mph prior to the Start Date.
