About this contract

For the last eight years the Council has procured and managed the supply of Natural Gas and Electricity through flexible agreements, enabling the Council the flexibility to fix the duration of contracts and the volume of gas and electricity purchases, based on market conditions. The current purchasing strategy is based on flexible, aggregated (with external clients), risk-managed procurement, purchasing tranches of gas and power on dips in the market and against set trigger prices to ensure budget certainty. A flexible strategy of buying over a four year period, with some purchases made near to delivery and some further away, helps to mitigate any sharp increases in market prices. The contracts currently in place are due to expire on 31/3/2016. This procurement is for a four year contract with preferred supplier(s) to supply Natural Gas and/or electricity to replace the current framework agreement. Islington Council will be seeking interest from industry regulated suppliers of Natural Gas and Electricity. Apart from Islington Council and its associated schools, we will be purchasing for: City & Islington College Lambeth College Greenwich Leisure Limited St Mary Magdalene Academy City of London Academy, Islington New North Academy William Tyndale Academy <b>The requirement </b> This procurement is for a four year contract with preferred supplier(s) to supply Natural Gas and/or electricity to replace the current agreement.
